Ear correction for men
One of the most common aesthetic corrections concerns the ears. For men as well, protruding ears can represent a bothersome aesthetic flaw. In addition to an auricular shell that tilts too far forward, the reason for this is insufficiently folded elastic cartilage, which causes the ear to protrude at too large an angle.
In addition to aesthetic perception, accidents or illnesses can also result in ear deformation and thus justify cosmetic correction. Both the normalization of the auricle shape and the pinning of the entire auricle to the head are treatable. Corrections of the earlobes in the form of reductions are also possible today and, like the reconstruction of torn earlobe piercings, can be carried out easily and without complication.
Due to the particularly gentle surgical techniques, the scars can be hidden as small, fine lines behind the ear, thus preserving an aesthetic and natural result. Although most ear corrections are performed on children from the age of 5, such a procedure is also easily possible for adults today.

Will I already incur costs during a consultation?
Yes, as a consultation is a medical service that must be billed according to the German scale of medical fees (GOÄ), there is a one-time fee of €75 for the individual and very detailed consultation.
What costs are associated with this treatment and is financing possible?

Is there a possibility of cost coverage by my health insurance?
The Eppstein Klinik is a purely private clinic. Cooperation with statutory health insurance companies is therefore not possible. Our treatments are self-pay services.
Can the treatment be carried out directly at the EPPSTEIN-Klinik?
Yes, with our own operating room, all procedures and treatments can be performed on-site.
Why does the EPPSTEIN-Klinik not show before-and-after pictures?
According to the Heilmittelwerbegesetz §11 (1), German doctors are not permitted to advertise surgical plastic-aesthetic procedures using comparative depictions of appearance before and after the procedure (before-and-after images).
I have a long journey – can my companion also stay overnight at the clinic?
Yes, the accompanying person can also stay overnight at the clinic.
Can multiple treatments be performed at one appointment?
In principle, multiple treatments can be performed during a single appointment. To what extent certain treatments can be combined must be discussed during a personal consultation.
What is the difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery?
A specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery has specialized in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery during their 6-year residency training following medical school. Since the term “cosmetic surgeon” is not protected, any physician can call themselves a cosmetic surgeon without having completed specialist training. Therefore, we recommend that you entrust yourself to a specialist, such as Dr. Eppstein.
Is the EPPSTEIN Klinik a member of reputable professional associations?
Dr. med. Ron Julius Eppstein is a full member of the DGPRÄC (German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons), the ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), the VDÄPC (Association of German Aesthetic-Plastic Surgeons) and the GÄCD (Society for Aesthetic Surgery Germany).

Before the procedure
What is the typical timeframe between the consultation and the surgery date?
As a rule, there are several weeks between the consultation and the surgery appointment. By law, a minimum period of 48 hours is required between the consultation and the performance of an elective procedure.
Under what circumstances can no intervention be performed?
Certain pre-existing conditions as well as the intake of anticoagulant medication can lead to a decision against performing a cosmetic surgery procedure. Such matters will be discussed in detail during the consultation.
How do I optimally prepare for surgery?
In a preliminary consultation with Dr. Eppstein, everything you need to know before the operation will be explained to you. Two weeks before the surgery, you should not take any medications that affect blood clotting, such as ASS (Aspirin). Additionally, you should stop smoking. Everything else is detailed on our ‘Before and After’ sheet, which you will receive after your consultation.

Is there an age limit for ear correction?
Although most ear corrections are performed on children from the age of 5, we only carry out treatments at the Eppstein Klinik from the age of 18 onwards.
After the procedure
How do I behave if complications occur?
You will receive an emergency number at which you can reach Dr. Eppstein at any time. In the event of a complication, please do not hesitate to call.
How can I ensure a good healing process?
Physical rest and a healthy diet are important factors that contribute to rapid wound healing. The same applies to abstaining from cigarettes and alcohol. Dr. Eppstein will discuss further individual measures with you during the consultation.
Should I expect any pain after the procedure?
The pain is generally well tolerated. Dr. Eppstein will issue a prescription for painkillers depending on the type of procedure.
How long do I have to wait until a final result of the treatment is visible?
A visible result is usually achieved after 3 months. The final result is typically reached after 6 months. The scars have generally reached their final appearance after about one year.
Can follow-up treatments also be carried out at a different doctor or hospital, as I have a long journey?
This may be possible under certain circumstances, but should be discussed individually with Dr. Eppstein.
Does the consumption of alcohol or cigarettes have a direct impact on the healing process?
Smoking can lead to a narrowing of the blood vessels, which worsens blood circulation and thus impairs healing. For a fast healing process, one should therefore refrain from the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes.
