Excess skin after pregnancy or weight loss? Dr. Eppstein tightens your abdominal wall and corrects a rectus diastasis at the same time – for a naturally defined silhouette and a firm abdominal feeling.
Our skin has many tasks and abilities; among other things, it is extremely stretchable. This is essential in order to be able to adapt quickly to our weight and body volume, for example during pregnancy. Overstretching the connective tissue for a prolonged period causes the natural elasticity to reach its limits. The result is that the skin can no longer fully contract. In the abdominal area, this results in a shapeless excess of skin.
Many women suffer from this excess skin on the abdomen, especially after significant weight loss or pregnancy.
Feeling uncomfortable in one’s own body can lead to psychological distress. Especially when you cannot get a handle on the situation despite a strict diet and exercise. A burden that can be countered with the help of a tummy tuck.
A tummy tuck can restore the body’s natural silhouette.
If you have already considered such a procedure, here you will find all the initial information on the process of an abdominoplasty at the EPPSTEIN Klinik Stuttgart.

In order to achieve the optimal result of a flat and uniform abdominal wall, every procedure is individually adapted in advance to the aesthetic needs of the patient.
Dr. Eppstein will advise you on this during a personal consultation at the clinic in Stuttgart. Once all wishes and questions regarding the tummy tuck have been clarified, a surgery appointment will be scheduled.
A tummy tuck is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 3 hours. The surgery is performed in the dedicated operating room of the EPPSTEIN Klinik in Stuttgart Mitte. During the procedure, the sagging tissue between the pubic mound and the navel is removed, tightened downwards, and sutured in a line in the bikini area to achieve a beautiful result with as few scars as possible.
In some women, the abdominal muscles do not contract completely again after pregnancy, and a diastasis recti occurs. In the course of an abdominoplasty, the abdominal muscles can be brought back together with sutures.
After the surgery, you will remain in the clinic for one night as an inpatient. After approximately 2 weeks, you have an appointment to trim the ends of the sutures, as self-dissolving threads are used in this operation. You can generally resume sports activities approximately 6 weeks after the surgery.
To support healing, wear an abdominal belt for 6 weeks.

A specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery has specialized in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery during their 6-year specialist training following medical studies. Since the term “cosmetic surgeon” is not protected, any doctor can call themselves a cosmetic surgeon without having completed specialist training. Therefore, we recommend that you entrust yourself to a specialist, such as Dr. Eppstein.
Dr. med. Ron Julius Eppstein is a full member of the DGPRÄC (German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons), the ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), the VDÄPC (Association of German Aesthetic-Plastic Surgeons) and the GÄCD (Society for Aesthetic Surgery Germany e.V.).

As a rule, there are several weeks between the consultation and the surgery appointment. By law, a minimum period of 48 hours is required between the consultation and the performance of an elective procedure.
Certain underlying medical conditions as well as the intake of anticoagulant medication can lead to a decision against performing a cosmetic surgery procedure. Such matters will be discussed in detail during the consultation.
In a preliminary consultation with Dr. Eppstein, everything you need to know before the operation will be explained to you. Two weeks before the operation, you should not take any medications that affect blood clotting, such as ASS (Aspirin). Furthermore, you should stop consuming cigarettes. Everything else is detailed on our ‘Before-After’ sheet, which you will receive after your consultation.
During pregnancy, the abdominal wall changes again, which can lead to renewed laxity. Dr. Eppstein therefore recommends performing the tummy tuck after family planning is complete.
The belly button remains in place during an abdominoplasty. Depending on the extent of the excess skin, only the skin around the navel is repositioned and the belly button is sewn back in at the end of the procedure. During an abdominoplasty, the abdominal muscles are tightened depending on whether a rectus diastasis (separation of the abdominal muscles) is present.
In general, an abdominoplasty is permanent. However, the natural aging process can cause the tissue to lose firmness over the years. The surgical result can also be affected by weight gain or pregnancy.
Dr. Eppstein generally aims to achieve an inconspicuous scar. Although the scar from a tummy tuck is long, it is placed as low as possible (below the bikini line) so that it remains hidden.
A tummy tuck is only performed with an inpatient overnight stay (one night) at the EPPSTEIN Klinik.
You will receive an emergency number at which you can reach Dr. Eppstein at any time. In the event of a complication, please do not hesitate to call.
Physical rest and a healthy diet are important factors that contribute to rapid wound healing. The same applies to abstaining from cigarettes and alcohol. Dr. Eppstein will discuss further individual measures with you during the consultation.
The pain is generally well tolerated. Dr. Eppstein will issue a prescription for painkillers depending on the type of procedure.
A visible result is usually achieved after 3 months. The final result is typically reached after 6 months. The scars have generally reached their final appearance after about one year.
This may be possible under certain circumstances, but should be discussed individually with Dr. Eppstein.
Smoking can lead to a narrowing of the blood vessels, which impairs blood circulation and thus hinders healing. For a rapid healing process, one should therefore refrain from the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes.
