Sweat gland treatment for women
In principle, sweating serves to regulate the body’s water and heat levels and represents an important natural body function. For some people, however, excessive sweat production occurs, especially under the armpits or on the palms of the hands. This so-called hyperhidrosis represents a severe limitation in the daily lives of those affected, as the body produces an excessive and uncontrollable amount of sweat regardless of heat or cold, or the time of day or season.
This excessive sweat production is also perceived by many people as very unpleasant and repulsive, which in turn results in extreme psychological stress for the person affected. In addition, constant sweating also poses a health problem, as the permanently damp skin provides an ideal breeding ground for eczema, warts, or fungal infections.
Nowadays, primary hyperhidrosis can be treated effectively, with the respective therapy being tailored individually to the needs of the person affected. Yes, as a consultation is a medical service that must be billed according to the Gebührenordnung für Ärzte (GOÄ), there is a one-time fee of €75 for the individual and very detailed consultation.

Is there a possibility of cost coverage by my health insurance?
The Eppstein Klinik is a purely private clinic. Therefore, cooperation with statutory health insurance companies is not possible. Our treatments are self-pay services.

Yes, with our own operating room, all procedures and treatments can be carried out on-site.
Why does the EPPSTEIN-Klinik not show before-and-after pictures?
According to the Therapeutic Products Act Section 11 (1), German physicians are not permitted to advertise operative plastic surgery procedures through comparative representations of the appearance before and after the procedure (before-and-after images).
I have a long journey – can my companion also stay overnight at the clinic?

Can multiple treatments be performed at one appointment?
In principle, multiple treatments can be performed during a single appointment. To what extent certain treatments can be combined must be discussed during a personal consultation.
What is the difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery?
A specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery has specialized in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery during their 6-year specialist training after medical school. Since the term “cosmetic surgeon” is not protected, any doctor can call themselves a cosmetic surgeon without having completed specialist training. Therefore, we recommend that you entrust yourself to a specialist, such as Dr. Eppstein.

Before the procedure
What is the typical timeframe between the consultation and the surgery date?
As a rule, there are several weeks between the consultation and the surgery appointment. By law, a minimum period of 48 hours is required between the consultation and the performance of an elective procedure.
Under what circumstances can no intervention be performed?
Certain pre-existing conditions as well as the intake of anticoagulant medication can lead to a decision against performing a cosmetic surgery procedure. Such matters will be discussed in detail during the consultation.
How do I optimally prepare for an operation?
In a preliminary consultation with Dr. Eppstein, you will be told everything you need to know before the operation. Two weeks before the operation, you should not take any medications that affect blood clotting, such as ASS (Aspirin). You should also stop consuming cigarettes. Everything else is on our ‘before and after’ sheet, which you will receive after your consultation.

In cases of excessive sweating, the armpits can be treated using sweat gland suction curettage or Botulinum Type A, while the palms of the hands and soles of the feet can also be treated using Botulinum Type A.
What exactly is meant by hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis refers to an excessive and uncontrollable production of sweat in certain regions of the body. This occurs independently of heat or cold, as well as the time of day or season.
What is the difference between local applications with botulinum type A and surgical procedures such as sweat gland suction curettage?
In a sweat gland suction curettage, the sweat glands are removed using a surgical procedure. This method can only be used in the armpit area. When using Botulinum Type A, the sweat glands are inhibited for approximately 6 months. This procedure can also be used on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

After the procedure
How should I behave if complications occur?
You will receive an emergency number where you can reach Dr. Eppstein at any time. In the event of a complication, please do not hesitate to call.
How can I ensure a good healing process?
Physical rest and a healthy diet are important factors that contribute to rapid wound healing. The same applies to abstaining from cigarettes and alcohol. Dr. Eppstein will discuss further individual measures with you during the consultation.
Should I expect any pain after the procedure?
The pain is generally well tolerated. Dr. Eppstein will issue a prescription for pain medication depending on the type of procedure.
How long do I have to wait until a final result of the treatment is visible?
A visible result is usually achieved after 3 months. The final result usually after 6 months. The scars have generally reached their final shape after about one year.
Can follow-up care also be performed at another doctor or hospital, as I have a long journey?
This may be possible under certain circumstances, but should be discussed individually with Dr. Eppstein.
Does the consumption of alcohol or cigarettes have direct effects on the healing process?
Smoking can lead to a narrowing of the blood vessels, which impairs blood circulation and thus hinders healing. For a fast healing process, one should therefore refrain from the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes.
Should I expect visible scars following the treatment?
A sweat gland suction curettage leaves 2-3 minimal scars of approximately 1 cm in length. Treatment with Botulinum Type A is scar-free.
