After pregnancy or weight loss: Using the scar-sparing Lejour technique, Dr. Eppstein reshapes your breast – firm, natural, and long-lasting. The innovative ‘internal bra effect’ ensures permanent firmness.
The desire for a breast lift can have many different reasons. The most common causes for interest in a breast lift are sagging breasts after pregnancy and breastfeeding, significant weight loss, or natural predisposition.
For many women, discomfort with their own body can lead to psychological distress. A painful situation that can be counteracted with the help of a breast lift (mastopexy).
If you have already considered such a procedure, here is some initial information on the process of a breast lift at the EPPSTEIN Klinik Stuttgart.

In order to ensure harmonious proportions and appealing aesthetics, the possible shape of the new breast will be discussed with you in detail. Dr. Eppstein will advise you on this during a personal consultation at the clinic in Stuttgart. As soon as all wishes and questions regarding your breast lift have been clarified, a surgery date will be scheduled.
A breast lift is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 2 hours. The surgery is performed in the dedicated operating room of the EPPSTEIN Klinik in Stuttgart Mitte. During the procedure, excess skin is removed and your own tissue is reshaped into a firm breast.
In most cases at the EPPSTEIN Klinik, we perform breast lifts using the scar-sparing “Lejour” technique.
What is the Lejour technique in a breast lift?
The goal of this technique is to avoid a long scar in the inframammary fold. By preserving one’s own dermis, a so-called inner bra effect can be created, also known as a dermis flap. This effect ensures a long-lasting result and thus a new quality of life.
If breast augmentation is also desired in addition to the breast lift, you have the option at the EPPSTEIN Klinik to combine the lift surgery with the insertion of silicone implants. Learn more here about the topic of breast augmentation at the EPPSTEIN Klinik.
After the operation, you will remain in the clinic as an inpatient for one night; the sutures will be removed after approximately 2 weeks.
You can start with light office work approximately x week after the surgery, and with more physically demanding work after approximately x weeks. You can resume light sports approximately 3 weeks after the surgery.

A specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery has specialized in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery during their 6-year specialist training following medical school. Since the term “cosmetic surgeon” is not protected, any doctor can call themselves a cosmetic surgeon without having completed specialist training. Therefore, we recommend entrusting yourself to a specialist such as Dr. Eppstein.

Certain underlying medical conditions, as well as the use of anticoagulant medication, may lead to the decision to refrain from performing a cosmetic surgery procedure. Such details will be discussed in depth during the consultation.
In a preliminary consultation with Dr. Eppstein, everything you need to know before the operation will be explained to you. Two weeks before the surgery, you should not take any medications that affect blood clotting, such as ASS (Aspirin). Additionally, you should stop consuming cigarettes. Everything else is detailed on our ‘Before-After’ sheet, which you will receive after your consultation.
We usually perform breast lifts using the scar-sparing ‘Lejour’ technique. As a result, the fine scars around the nipple and from the nipple down to the inframammary fold are very inconspicuous. No scar is created in the inframammary fold.
After a breast lift, you can take a full bath after approximately 4 weeks. Active swimming or scuba diving is only possible again after approximately 3 months.
Exercising after the procedure depends not only on the type of breast surgery, but also on the type of sport itself. Fundamentally, no overhead movements should be performed in the first 4 weeks. Exercise should therefore initially be limited to the lower part of the body. Normally, activities such as leisurely cycling on an ergometer can consequently be performed after approx. 3 weeks. After approx. 4 weeks, you can already do light upper body exercises; full exertion is only possible after approx. 6 weeks.
In general, the fresh scar should be protected from UV radiation for one year after the procedure. Therefore, it is especially important to apply sunscreen (SPF 50) to the scar when wearing a bikini. Sunbathing or solariums should be avoided for approx. 6 months.
There is a 20-30% risk that the ability to breastfeed will be impaired after a breast lift.
You should not wear underwired or push-up bras for 6 weeks after breast surgery, but instead a comfortable sports bra. Afterwards, you should be able to wear underwired or push-up bras again without any problems.
Tissue aging is unpredictable. As a rule, however, the breast is usually in a significantly better shape years after the operation than before.
The breast changes with each pregnancy. The extent to which a pregnancy adversely affects the outcome of a breast operation cannot be precisely predicted, as each course is individual.
Sensitivity usually recovers a few months after the surgery. In rare cases, a sensory disorder may persist.
You will receive an emergency number where you can reach Dr. Eppstein at any time. In the event of a complication, please do not hesitate to call.
Physical rest and a healthy diet are important factors that contribute to rapid wound healing. The same applies to abstaining from cigarettes and alcohol. Dr. Eppstein will discuss further individual measures with you during the consultation.
The pain is generally well tolerated. Dr. Eppstein will issue a prescription for pain medication depending on the type of procedure.
A visible result is usually achieved after 3 months. The final result is typically reached after 6 months. The scars generally reach their final appearance after approximately one year.
This may be possible under certain circumstances, but should be discussed individually with Dr. Eppstein.
Smoking can lead to a narrowing of the blood vessels, which worsens blood circulation and thus impairs healing. For a fast healing process, one should therefore refrain from the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes.
Ideally, you should sleep on your back for the first 2 weeks after breast lift surgery. Afterwards, it is usually possible to sleep on your side without any problems. Approximately two months after the breast lift, it is generally possible to sleep on your stomach again.
Generally, breast lift surgery does not affect a later mammogram. However, the treating physicians should be made aware of the procedure so that they know how to correctly interpret the internal scars.
