Ear correction for women
One of the most common aesthetic corrections concerns the ears. Especially for women, protruding ears can represent a flaw when wearing earrings or short hairstyles. The reason for this, in addition to an ear cup tilted too far forward, is insufficiently folded elastic cartilage, which causes the ear to protrude at too large an angle.
In addition to aesthetic perception, accidents or illnesses can also result in a deformation of the ears and thus justify a cosmetic correction. Both the normalization of the auricle shape and the pinning of the entire auricle to the head are treatable. Corrections of the earlobes in the form of reductions are also possible nowadays and can be carried out easily and without complications, as can the reconstruction of torn earlobe piercings.
Due to the particularly gentle surgical techniques, the scars can be hidden as small, fine lines behind the ear, thus preserving an aesthetic and natural result. Although most ear corrections are performed on children from the age of 5, such a procedure is also easily possible for adults today.

Will I already incur costs during a consultation?
Yes, since a consultation is a medical service that must be billed according to the German scale of fees for doctors (GOÄ), a one-time fee of €75 will be charged for the individual and very detailed consultation.

Is there a possibility of cost coverage by my health insurance?
The Eppstein Klinik is a purely private clinic. Cooperation with statutory health insurance providers is therefore not possible. Our treatments are self-pay services.

Yes, with our own operating room, all procedures and treatments can be carried out on site.
Why does the EPPSTEIN-Klinik not show before-and-after pictures?
According to the Heilmittelwerbegesetz §11 (1), German doctors are not allowed to advertise surgical plastic-medical interventions through comparative depictions of the appearance before and after the intervention (before-and-after images).
I have a long journey – can my companion also stay overnight at the clinic?

Can several treatments be performed at one appointment?
In principle, multiple treatments can be performed during a single appointment. To what extent certain treatments can be combined must be discussed during a personal consultation.
What is the difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery?
A specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery has specialized in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery during their 6-year specialist training following medical school. Since the term “cosmetic surgeon” is not protected, any doctor can call themselves a cosmetic surgeon without having completed specialist training. Therefore, we recommend entrusting yourself to a specialist, such as Dr. Eppstein.

Dr. med. Before the procedure
What is the typical timeframe between the consultation and the surgery date?
As a rule, there are several weeks between the consultation and the surgery appointment. By law, a minimum period of 48 hours is required between the consultation and the performance of an elective procedure.
Under what circumstances can no intervention be performed?
Certain pre-existing conditions as well as the intake of anticoagulant medication can lead to a decision against performing a cosmetic surgery procedure. Such matters will be discussed in detail during the consultation.
How do I optimally prepare for an operation?
In a preliminary consultation with Dr. Eppstein, everything you need to know before the operation will be explained to you. Two weeks before the surgery, you should not take any medications such as ASS (Aspirin) that affect blood clotting. Furthermore, you should stop consuming cigarettes. All further details can be found on our ‘Before and After’ sheet, which you will receive after your consultation.

Is there an age limit for ear correction?
Although most ear corrections are performed on children from the age of 5, we only perform treatments at the Eppstein Klinik from the age of 18.
Do I have to expect long-term restrictions on activities such as sleeping on my side or wearing earrings following ear correction surgery?
After the procedure, you must wear a head bandage for at least one week. After the bandage has been removed, you must wear a headband day and night for another week. After that, the headband should be worn only at night for an additional 6 weeks. During this time, you should avoid bending the auricle. Earrings may be worn again after the head bandage has been removed.

You will receive an emergency number where you can reach Dr. Eppstein at any time. In the event of a complication, please do not hesitate to call.
How can I ensure a good healing process?
Physical rest and a healthy diet are important factors that contribute to rapid wound healing. The same applies to abstaining from cigarettes and alcohol. Dr. Eppstein will discuss further individual measures with you during the consultation.
Should I expect any pain after the procedure?
The pain is generally well tolerated. Dr. Eppstein will issue a prescription for painkillers depending on the type of procedure.
