Nowadays, this development can be counteracted relatively easily and straightforwardly by means of hyaluronic acid injections. However, caution is also required here, as a common mistake lies in the wrong choice of product. To reduce possible side effects to an absolute minimum, we work exclusively with high-quality products such as the Restylane® Hyaluron-Filler from Galderma. The good flow properties ensure that no unevenness or hardening forms, which could have a lasting negative aesthetic impact on the result.

Will I already incur costs during a consultation?
Yes, since a consultation is a medical service that must be billed according to the German scale of fees for physicians (GOÄ), there is a one-time fee of €75 for the individual and very detailed consultation.
What costs are associated with this treatment and is financing possible?

Is there a possibility of cost coverage by my health insurance?
The Eppstein Klinik is a purely private clinic. Cooperation with statutory health insurance companies is therefore not possible. Our treatments are self-pay services.
Can the treatment be carried out directly at the EPPSTEIN-Klinik?
Yes, with our own operating room, all procedures and treatments can be performed on-site.
Why does the EPPSTEIN-Klinik not show before-and-after pictures?
According to the Therapeutic Products Act Section 11 (1), German doctors are not permitted to advertise surgical plastic-aesthetic procedures using comparative depictions of appearance before and after the procedure (before-and-after images).
I have a long journey – can my companion also stay overnight at the clinic?

Can several treatments be carried out at one appointment?
In principle, multiple treatments can be performed during a single appointment. To what extent certain treatments can be combined must be discussed during a personal consultation.
What is the difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery?
A specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery has specialized in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery during their 6-year specialist training following medical school. Since the term “cosmetic surgeon” is not protected, any doctor can call themselves a cosmetic surgeon without having completed specialist training. Therefore, we recommend entrusting yourself to a specialist such as Dr. Eppstein.

Before the procedure
What is the typical timeframe between the consultation and the surgery date?
As a rule, there are several weeks between the consultation and the surgery appointment. By law, a minimum period of 48 hours is required between the consultation and the performance of an elective procedure.
Under what circumstances can no intervention be performed?
Certain underlying medical conditions as well as the intake of anticoagulant medication can lead to a decision against performing a cosmetic surgery procedure. Such matters are discussed in detail during the consultation.
How do I optimally prepare for surgery?
In a preliminary consultation with Dr. Eppstein, you will be told everything you need to know before the surgery. Two weeks before the operation, you should not take any medications that affect blood clotting, such as ASS (Aspirin). Furthermore, you should stop consuming cigarettes. Everything else is detailed on our ‘before-and-after’ sheet, which you will receive after your consultation.

No, the lips generally cannot lose their sensitivity through an injection with hyaluronic acid.
Is the result of a lip treatment using hyaluronic acid permanent?
Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance, it is broken down by the body over time. Therefore, such a procedure is not permanent and must be repeated every 6-12 months.
After the procedure
How should I behave if complications occur?
You will receive an emergency number where you can reach Dr. Eppstein at any time. In the event of a complication, please do not hesitate to call.
How can I ensure a good healing process?
Physical rest and a healthy diet are important factors that contribute to rapid wound healing. The same applies to abstaining from cigarettes and alcohol. Dr. Eppstein will discuss further individual measures with you during the consultation.
Should I expect any pain after the procedure?
The pain is generally well tolerated. Dr. Eppstein will issue a prescription for pain medication depending on the type of procedure.
How long do I have to wait until a final result of the treatment is visible?
A visible result is usually achieved after 3 months. The final result is typically reached after 6 months. The scars have generally reached their final appearance after about one year.
Can follow-up treatments also be carried out by another doctor or hospital, as I have a long journey?
This may be possible under certain circumstances, but should be discussed individually with Dr. Eppstein.
Does the consumption of alcohol or cigarettes have a direct impact on the healing process?
Smoking can lead to a narrowing of the blood vessels, which worsens blood circulation and thus impairs healing. For a fast healing process, one should therefore refrain from the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes.
