Proportionally, our eyes represent a relatively small part of the body. Yet the eye area in particular is an important indicator of physical and emotional well-being and contributes enormously to how we appear to the people around us.
Positive charisma, vitality, and attractiveness – hardly anything is as underestimated as the impact of firm eyelids. However, over time, the decreasing elasticity of the eyelid muscles, sagging skin, and small fat deposits can lead to drooping eyelids. A natural process that often makes our face appear tired, exhausted, and sad.
A process that can be effectively counteracted for years with an upper eyelid correction. For this purpose, excess tissue and fat deposits are removed according to precise calculations, with the ultra-fine scars being placed in the eyelid crease, making them virtually invisible. What is the procedure for an upper eyelid correction?
On the day of surgery, you will come to the EPPSTEIN Klinik at the agreed time.
You will be welcomed by our team and prepared for the outpatient surgery. Dr. Eppstein will mark the incision lines on the upper eyelids and perform the operation personally. If you have any remaining questions, they will of course be answered in advance. After the procedure, you will be discharged home after a short period of monitoring.
Please do not take any blood-thinning medications (e.g., ASS/Aspirin), etc., for 14 days before the procedure without prior consultation.

In principle, multiple treatments can be performed during a single appointment. To what extent certain treatments can be combined must be discussed during a personal consultation.
What is the difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery?
A specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery has specialized in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery during their 6-year specialist training following medical studies. Since the term “cosmetic surgeon” is not protected, any doctor can call themselves a cosmetic surgeon without having completed specialist training. Therefore, we recommend that you entrust yourself to a specialist, such as Dr. Eppstein.

How is the upper eyelid correction surgery performed?
In an upper eyelid correction (blepharoplasty), the excess tissue is removed under local anesthesia after precise planning. The scar is placed in the eyelid crease so that it is barely visible after healing.
What is the typical time frame between the consultation and the surgery date?
As a rule, there are several weeks between the consultation and the surgery date. By law, a minimum period of 48 hours is required between the consultation and the performance of an elective procedure.
Under what circumstances can no intervention be performed?
Certain underlying medical conditions, as well as the use of anticoagulant medication, may lead to advice against undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure. Such details are discussed in depth during the consultation.
How do I optimally prepare for surgery?
In a preliminary consultation with Dr. Eppstein, everything you need to know before the surgery will be explained to you. Two weeks before the operation, you should not take any medications that affect blood clotting, such as ASS (Aspirin). Additionally, you should stop smoking. Everything else is detailed on our ‘Before and After’ sheet, which you will receive after your consultation.

Can the eye or vision be damaged during an upper eyelid correction?
Since the eye is located in the immediate vicinity, this is of course hypothetically possible. However, an upper eyelid correction is a routine operation, so that injury to the eye or vision can be almost entirely ruled out.

Can the procedure be performed despite permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup has no effect on the procedure. Dr. Eppstein also ensures a gentle procedure in which the permanent makeup is damaged as little as possible. Naturally, however, the shape of the permanent makeup may change due to the correction.
After the procedure
What is the procedure after upper eyelid surgery?
You will be discharged home after the upper eyelid lift; further treatment will take place on an outpatient basis. Dr. Eppstein can be reached for you at any time after the procedure.
Follow-up appointments will take place after 7 days, 6 weeks, and 12 weeks.
The stitches will be removed after 7 days.
It is important that you use plenty of cooling after the procedure, rest physically, and sleep on your back with your upper body elevated.

After you have taken the healing process of approximately 1 week into account and the stitches have been removed, you can apply eye makeup as usual.
After what period of time can I wear contact lenses again?
After a period of two weeks, you can wear contact lenses again. Wearing glasses is not a problem after upper eyelid surgery; you can wear them again immediately after the procedure.
