Wrinkle treatment for women with hyaluronic acid

Wrinkles are often regarded as evidence of an active and eventful life. They provide character and sometimes make faces appear interesting for the first time. Unfortunately, however, not all wrinkles are like this. For bothersome wrinkles caused by loss of volume and volume shifts during the aging process, treatment options with Hyaluronsäure are available.

As a natural component of the human body, hyaluronic acid performs many tasks. For example, the active ingredient provides moisture to the eyes and is also responsible for the exchange of fluids between cells. The most important property of hyaluronic acid in our case? It has the ability to bind water in the tissue, thereby giving the skin volume, elasticity, and firmness. However, due to the natural aging process, a steady degradation of the body’s own hyaluronic acid progresses, so that with increasing age only a small percentage of the original amount of hyaluronic acid remains in the body. Due to this progressive loss of the active ingredient, the skin and connective tissue lose volume, which results in a sagging and sinking of the facial structures and thus the formation of wrinkles.

As an injection under the skin, for example in the eye or mouth area, wrinkles can be specifically filled and smoothed from within, or subtle volume effects can be created. Skin rejuvenation can be achieved using ‘Skinboosters’. Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that the body breaks down over time, wrinkle reduction with hyaluronic acid must be repeated every 6 to 12 months for a lasting effect.

A specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery has specialized in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery during his 6-year specialist training after medical school. Since the term “cosmetic surgeon” is not protected, any doctor can call themselves a cosmetic surgeon without having completed specialist training. Therefore, we recommend entrusting yourself to a specialist such as Dr. Eppstein.

Before the procedure

As a rule, there are several weeks between the consultation and the surgery date. By law, a minimum period of 48 hours is required between the informed consent discussion and the performance of an elective procedure.

Certain pre-existing conditions as well as the intake of anticoagulant medication can lead to a decision against performing a cosmetic surgery procedure. Such matters are discussed in detail during the consultation.

In a preliminary consultation with Dr. Eppstein, everything you need to know before the operation will be explained to you. Two weeks before the operation, you should not take any medications that affect blood clotting, such as ASS (Aspirin). Additionally, you should stop consuming cigarettes. Everything else is detailed on our ‘Before and After’ sheet, which you will receive after your consultation.

The procedure

Botulinum Typ A is a substance that relaxes the muscles. Overactivity of the facial muscles and decades of muscle movement cause wrinkles to etch into the skin. These wrinkles mostly occur in the upper part of the face and are known as “frown lines,” “forehead wrinkles,” and “crow’s feet.” With the help of Botulinum Typ A, the muscles relax and the wrinkles are smoothed, in contrast to Hyaluronsäure, which is a filling substance. The volume lost over the years is replenished with Hyaluronsäure. The wrinkles caused by volume loss and displacement mostly occur in the lower part of the face and are called “nasolabial folds” or “marionette lines.”

The result of a wrinkle treatment using Botulinum Type A lasts approximately 3-4 months and can be repeated afterwards without any problems. An injection with hyaluronic acid usually lasts 6-12 months.

The findings are gradually returning to the baseline.

During filler treatments, Dr. Eppstein always ensures that a natural-looking facial expression is maintained.

Yes, treatments with Botulinum Type A and hyaluronic acid can be combined.

A visible result is usually achieved after 3 months. The final result usually after 6 months. The scars have generally reached their final shape after about one year.

This may be possible under certain circumstances, but should be discussed individually with Dr. Eppstein.

Smoking can lead to a narrowing of the blood vessels, which impairs blood circulation and thus hinders healing. For a rapid healing process, one should therefore refrain from the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes.
